For the second year in a row, I was commissioned to photograph the Women’s Symposium for Raymond James Financial. The 25th annual event was held over three days at the Ritz Carlton in Orlando and was attended by approximately 500 financial advisors. So many great speakers and programs and an incredible display of strength and growth by women in the financial industry, made me wish I had a daughter!

In addition to the event coverage, a full afternoon of headshots were also offered and 120 women took advantage of the opp, keeping me busier than you can possibly imagine.

This gallery is just a small sample of the excitement and enthusiasm on display.

Enjoy!

Photoshop World Las Vegas

For the second year in a row, I was hired to document the Las Vegas convention for Photoshop World, produced by KelbyOne Media.

The four day convention, held at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, was attended by approximately 1,500 photographers and featured some of the industry’s top professional shooters, presenting educational instruction on everything from Photoshop and Lightroom techniques, to lighting, posing, business, and marketing for professionals in the industry.

My assignment is to create the images that will be used, not only to create a history book of THIS convention, but in the marketing material for NEXT year’s convention. Many of the images were delivered daily, so KelbyOne Media and Photoshop World could use in their daily social media accounts like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

As an event photographer based in Tampa, I find myself traveling quite a bit for different companies who value my perspective, imagery, and ability to keep pace with their event schedule.

If you are in the event or convention planning business and are looking for an experienced professional photographer to provide quality photography coverage, please check out our Corporate Events page and give us a call. I’d be happy to discuss your needs and goals, and show you how we can help you showcase your hard work with great photography.

Corporate Group Photo

One of the greatest challenges I receive as a professional photographer, is when a new client arrives in the Tampa Bay Area (in this case, a St Louis firm staying at the Clearwater Marriott in Sand Key for a weekend retreat/business meeting), needing to update their employee images on their web site.

In this client’s case, they needed one large group photo, several individual images (all looking totally different), and a few “action” shots. The staff at the Marriott was wonderful and very accommodating, allowing us to utilize their beautiful lobby and restaurant to create 16 totally different images.

Working with only one light, modified for different looks, the entire job was completed in about two and half hours.

The stage has now been set for another incredible game between the SEC and the Big Ten. The Outback Bowl never fails to deliver one of the best bowl games in the post season. This year it will feature the 8-4 University of Tennessee Volunteers vs the 10-2 Northwestern University Wildcats.

That’s not the trophy, btw.

The contract signing party took place Thursday night at Raymond James Stadium. I look forward to this event every year because it’s a chance to see and hear the coaches up close and personal together, something that only happens once.

My third trip to California this year placed me in the heart of San Francisco to photograph another corporate event for Interior Design Magazine. As is customary with their events, a bus tour was arranged to visit several corporate offices of “tech” companies. This year visits were made to admire the office designs for Visa, Wired Magazine, Yelp, Weebly, Luminosity, ZenDesk, and NeuStar. The tour guides were the architects and designers who created these playgrounds for the millennial generation. Some of the most innovative ideas, designed to attract and keep happy, the 20-somethings that currently rule the world! Here’s just a very small taste of designs/features/benefits of working in one of these incredible office spaces…

Event photography is a big part of my business. Corporate and company event, annual awards banquets, and conventions, are right up my alley. I’ve been very fortunate to have been selected to cover events in many parts of the country, my latest event was in Palm Springs, California (my third event there in as many years). If there truly is a “glamorous side” of being an event photographer, it’s working with the people who put on these events, and documenting THEIR story, and the locations, food, and activities they create for their attendees.

I’ve said it before… it’s always great to get out of the studio and accept the challenge of covering a fluid event in an uncontrolled environment. Corporate convention photography coverage is both challenging and rewarding for me. Last week, I was sent to Miami Beach to document a three day convention for Interior Design Magazine. I’ve worked with them many times before in some of the most beautiful locations and I love their staff (they treat me very, very well).

My goal with their events is to create commercially useful images that document the event, the attendees, their surroundings, and the details. I use a lot of natural light, but know when and where to add off-camera-flash to create light patterns that mimic natural light, and a shallow depth of field when appropriate. The result is a body of work they can use in the promotion of their next event, in both social media, as well as their magazine.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… Corporate Event Photography coverage are some of my most challenging yet favorite assignments. It gets me out of the studio, into uncontrolled lighting conditions, with puzzle pieces that interact in an un-choreographed fashion, challenging me to find just the right angle at just the right moment, under the best possible lighting conditions, and tell the client’s story of their event.

This week, I had the pleasure working with and providing documentary style photography coverage of a three day convention for the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine which hosted over 400 attendees from the Health Care Industry.

This is just a small sample of imagery they needed to build their website and ad pieces for their 2015 convention schedule.

To get out of the studio and dropped into an uncontrolled lighting environment, with the directive of capturing images that truly tell the story of an event; speakers and presenters, attendees, environment, and details – THAT’S my goal.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have been dropped into several environments, mostly in incredible locations – Chicago, Austin, Dallas, Miami Beach, Orlando, Palm Springs, and most recently, New Orleans. When you successfully fill the needs of a high powered client and develop a mutual trust in one another, the results are magical and the relationship continues to grow. These are just a few of my favorite images from October’s event coverage for Interior Design Magazine in New Orleans.
