Gay Marriage Celebration, Tampa

I (we) photographed over 800 weddings between 1986 and 2007. In the spring of 2008, I hung up my wedding tux for the last official time (of course, photographers don’t wear them anymore. Whatever happened to dressing out of ‘respect’ in an effort to blend in with formal affairs?). Since then, I’ve accepted only a very small handful of weddings, for very special clients. Last weekend was one of those clients, and one of those occasions.

The ceremony itself had taken place in Maryland two weeks ago and this was a formal reception for their close friends and relatives here in Tampa. Not a very large affair, less than 65 people, but great friends who knew how to party. I arrived just early enough to create a handful of formal group photographs in the backyard (the party was held at a very good friend’s home), then some candids during the evening.

The couple had been together for many years, so this was long overdue. Congratulations Guy & Robert, and may your future together be as bright as your smiles!
